Personal

On this page, you will find a little about my extra-professional interests and activities.

In my spare time, I train Wu Style tai chi chuan at Wu's Academy of Ann Arbor. I particularly enjoy weapons forms, Sabre, Sword and Spear. On September 8, 2013, I became a Certified Teacher to train students up to the advanced level. In May, 2018, I won a bronze medal for my double-edge sword form at the Third International Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan compeition in Singapore. Click here to find out more about the Academy.

I am also a member of the Ann Arbor Dog Training Club. I have been training my Ganaraskan dog, Black Tie's Emily Carr (Emmy), in the sport of Rally at Northfield Dog Training Club. We earned our Rally AE title recently, and have just become a registered therapy dog team with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs and our local affiliate, Therapaws of Michigan. I am also working with our puppy, Black Tie's Tanya Moiseiwitsch (Tina). For more about the Ganaraskan breed, see The Ganaraskan Society on Facebook.

During the Covid19 crisis, I have gone back to school! I am auditing Dr. Graeme Boone's online course on the history of rock 'n' roll this fall term at OSU. It's excellent! I'm learning a lot and having a great deal of fun.

As an avid attender of the Stratford Festival, I was very happy to be elected to the Executive Committee, Michigan Members of Stratford Festival in January of 2016.

I am also a member of BIZ, the Beth Israel/Zeitouna Conversation Group, which uses dialogue to bridge the often-contentious divide on the topic of the Middle East.

Finally, I include a photo of the fabulous birthday cake ordered by my husband for a surprise birthday party March, 2012. Courtney Clark (a former student who now runs Cake Nouveau) was asked to craft it to resemble Hagia Sophia. She did a fabulous job!
