Oxford Handbook of Byzantine Art and Architecture. Following my work on the Oxford Bibliographies Online, I was asked by Oxford University Press to create and edit this large, multiauthored handbook. I recruited 37 scholars, from famous authors to new faculty, to write the various chapters. One part of the book explores overarching questions such as new approaches studying the perception of Byzantine architecture and art, and the construction of personal identity through garments and adornment. The second part covers various art forms and media, from military architecture to secular manuscript illumination. There are also chapters on Byzantine art after the end of the empire, and the continuation of Byzantine elements in the arts of the 18th through the early 20th century. I wrote the introduction and a chapter on bronze icons.

“Copper repoussé Icons of Middle and Later Byzantine Times,” Deltion tes Christianikes Archaiologikes Hetaireias, Series 4, vol. 35 (2014), 361-374. This is the first section of my large research project on bronze icons. This article considers the icons crafted in copper repoussé.

"L'Année dernière à Marienbad as Cubist Cinema," Studies in French Cinema, vol. 14, no. 2 (summer 2014), 76-90. This piece presents my ideas about the 1961 film "Last Year at Marienbad," further developed and augmented by a filmography, which was first presented at the College Art Association annual meeting in 1980. As a final touch, in the summer 2014, I visited the Nymphenburger Schloss, the palace where much of the film was shot.

Current Projects:

Womanhouse, the Fiftieth Anniversary. A panel to be presented at the annual meeting of the College Art Association, March 4, 2022. Five panelists, including two of the original artists from the 1972 exhibition, discuss Womanouse and its impact on the art of subsequent times.

Icons in Bronze. An ongoing project which examines bronze icons made by various methods, and their relationship to icons in other media. This book-length study will consider differences in techniques and style, the icons' monetary value, the audience for whom these pieces were made, and the uses to which metal icons were put.

Dear Womanhouse, What Now? I have been involved in this exciting collaborative project since my retirement. It evolved out of my Feminist Art seminar. It was exhibited in a historic house, home of the Art Kettle in Manchester, MI, and later traveled to Gallery 22 North in Ypsilanti. I contributed an installation entitled, Inverse Dilemma, which expresses the stresses of a professional working woman with two small children. I was also part of a piece called Read Between the Lines with Laura Earle, about research and writing on women and art history. I did a lot of the writing of press releases and explanatory material for the exhibition, and also presented two lectures at the shows.

GI Jews. I am now helping to create a small exhibition about Jewish servicemembers during World War II, co-curated with Dr. Daryl M. Hafter, Professor Emerita of History, Eastern Michigan University.
